Rubber Flooring Installation
Rubber Flooring can be installed in three ways:
Easy way: Cutting mats to size and laying them down. Mats are heavy, rugged and grippy on most surfaces (concrete, wood, vinyl, etc) and don’t need tape/glue for some purposes. This installation approach is particularly suitable for light-duty applications, such as setting up a home gym where heavy equipment won't be constantly moved on the mats. Mats might shift a little if you try to move equipment like treadmills on top.
Required Tools & Materials:
Tape measure
Metal straight edge/Drywall T-square/Framing square
Utility knife/Box cutter
Marking pens or chalk
With Double Sided Tape: Cutting mats to size and laying them down and put double sided carpet tape under seams and edges. The use of double-sided tape effectively prevents the mats from shifting when you roll or move equipment on top of them. This way of installation recommended for medium duty usage such as home gyms with equipment movement or small commercial gyms. For securing rubber flooring, it's advisable to use acrylic double-sided tape that is 1 to 2 inches wide. You can find this type of tape at Home Depot or flooring stores.

With Glue: Cutting mats to size and laying them down and trowel polyurethane glue under the mats. This approach permanently adheres the mats to the floor, making it suitable for heavy-duty usage, such as in commercial gyms or garage gyms where cars may be parked on top of the mats. For this purpose, it's recommended to use polyurethane glue, which you can typically find at Home Depot or flooring stores. This type of glue provides a strong and lasting bond, ensuring that the mats remain securely in place even under significant stress.
